Not willing to rest on its laurels, Pottinger has developed a new high-performance model to ensure it stays at the forefront of loader wagon technology.
Pottinger engineers have designed the new Jumbo 7000 to deliver high volumes of clean forage. They have redesigned all of its core components to work with tractors up to 500HP.
The 7000 model is the third generation of the Jumbo series, and it features a number of patented innovations that boost harvesting efficiency. It has also been given an appealing new look.

The new Jumbo 7000 is a multi-purpose loader wagon that can be used for forage harvesting or transport. It combines high throughput, clean crop intake, and precise chopping with the flexibility of a high-volume transport wagon.
Jumbo 7000 models are engineered for tractors from 200HP to 500HP. The top-end model is the first loader wagon to reach 500HP, which puts it within the throughput capacity of a forage harvester” David says.
The six models in the Jumbo 7000 series have volumes from 38m3 to 54m3
The two smaller models (38m3 and 40m3) have a tandem chassis with parabolic spring suspension, the two intermediate models (45m3 and 47m3) have a tandem chassis with a hydro-pneumatic suspension, and the two larger models (52m3 and 54m3) have a tridem chassis with hydraulic suspension.
Both types of suspension ensure the load is evenly distributed and provides smooth running in-field and on-road. The hydro-pneumatic chassis gives outstanding stability on steep ground, better shock absorption, and more safety when traveling at high speeds.
As a true multi-purpose loader wagon, the Jumbo can be used to transport materials other than grass. Operators can easily remove the pick-up to increase carrying capacity, while a new cover secures the load for road travel.
To keep the forage clean, the Jumbo 7000 starts the harvesting process with a 2.3m wide, seven-row floating pick-up.
“A new hydraulically adjustable drive system automatically adjusts the pick-ups speed to match the driving speed. This eliminates any dragging effect and improves chopping quality” David says.
Tines controlled by the cam-track gently lift the crop and transfer it to the loading rotor.
For additional wear resistance, 75% of the rotor’s width is fitted with case-hardened steel. This increases its service life by 25 percent.
The driveline delivers optimum power to the rotor using a double wide-angle PTO shaft without a clutch. It is powered by a Powerband, which transmits maximum power in all operating conditions.
Powerband ensures smooth running and it has a damping effect that protects the mechanics and reduces maintenance and wear costs to a minimum.
To reduce the power required during loading, Pottinger has lowered the scraper floor at the front by 250mm. This also increases the net payload thanks to higher compaction.
David says “with the Jumbo 7000’s intelligent automatic loading system, the operator can select from three loading modes – light loading, medium, and higher compaction”
If the scraper floor is actuated by the automatic loading system, the front panel helps push the forage along and then automatically moves back into the loading position so the forage stays compact.
“Chopping the grass is critical for delivering a high-quality ration. Thanks to Pottinger’s Powercut short-length chopping system, you can achieve this with a theoretical chop length of 34mm”
All new Jumbo models have 48 knives. The long arc of the knives slices along the full length of the blade so the forage is chopped uniformly. For pure convenience, Pottinger has made it easy to activate the knife bank release system without tools using a control panel on the side of the wagon.
Pottinger’s patented knife protection system protects the loader wagon and livestock, while its AutoCut knife sharpening system sharpens the knives automatically while they are on the wagon. Sharp blades can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% and reduce maintenance by 45 minutes a day.
With AutoCut, sharpening times are shorter thanks to the new electric-hydraulic drive system. The operator can conveniently do the sharpening during a break.
David says “a new unloading beater driveline delivers 210kW and increases unloading capacity by a third from the earlier models. With this feature, unloading a Jumbo 7000 takes about one minute”.
Its soft start and absence of power peaks protect not just the beater driveline but also the scraper floor drive and the chains. The beater rotor has an innovative V-twist shape that conveys the crop uniformly and loosens even highly compacted forage. By creating a uniform blanket of forage, the Jumbo makes it easier for the stack roller to achieve efficient compaction and high silage quality.
Jumbo 7000s moveable front panel significantly increases the volume of the wagon by 4.3m3. This makes the loader wagon much more compact so it is more maneuverable in small fields and narrow laneways.
“Pottinger’s optional intelligent front panel provides unique loading and unloading capability,” David says.
The panel has a large forage compaction flap and a dynamometer bolt. Along with a loading torque sensor and compression flap sensor, the dynamometer measures loading pressure on the front panel. Operators can adjust these parameters to match the density of the load. It can achieve loading rates up to 400kg/m3, depending on the DM content.”
Powering the scraper floor are wide flat-link chains with a breaking load of 13 tonnes. They provide stability, reliability, and smooth running. Scraper floor slats are double-bolted and rest on exchangeable guide bars.
The hydro-pneumatic tandem and tridem chassis have a width of 1.1m and 856mm at the steered axles. This gives safer handling and stability on steep grounds.
An expert 75 or CCI 1200 ISOBUS terminals can be specified with your Jumbo 700 to replace implement-specific units. In addition to the Jumbo, they can be used to operate ALL ISOBUS compatible implements regardless of whether they are Pottinger or other manufacturers.
